Enclosure

This is the original Apple 1 enclosure from 1976. It was called Apple 81 because it used the 93481 bipolar DRAMS.  This is probably the only computer that ever used those RAMS, Fairchild had technical problems and did not pursue them commercially.

This enclosure from 2009 uses a slightly modified Apple II Keyboard and a full size iPod.

This enclosure from 2013 has an open frame for cooling and uses an Apple II keyboard with custom keycaps and a custom encoder board for the Apple 1

This enclosure was used in 2016, it has a fan for cooling and is built as a single unit with the keyboard and power supply attached.  The keyboard is a full custom keyboard using an FPGA for a keyboard encoder.  The iPod is an iPod touch.

This  is the latest enclosure.  It uses a modular design with separate keyboard and power supply.  The board enclosure has external connections for the display, keyboard, recorder, and power supply that can all be attached without opening the enclosure so the Apple 1 and ACI never have to be touched or disturbed.  The board enclosure is small enough to fit in a standard 10 inch Safe Deposit Box so the board never has to be removed from the enclosure for storage or opened for setting up as shown. The following document has a detailed description of the Enclosure.
